Village Juice Co. Review

From salads to smoothies, to toast and even acai bowls, Village Juice Co. has created an easy, insta-worthy way to dine healthy here at school. Students anticipated the opening and hoped it would live up to the expectations of the local juice places from their hometowns.

Village Juice Co. opened November 7th and hasn’t seen a dull hour since. Students can use their +7 or +14 meal plan, meal dollars or cash/card to pay. The atmosphere is bright with a light aesthetic interior that gives off an inviting feel. The workers are very kind and eager to get you your food and juice as fast as they can. The first few days I even heard they were giving away some free treats!

Village Juice Co. is perfect snack for a quick study break or a longer lunch with friends. The options are endless with three different sections on the menu: “salad and grain bowl,” “smoothie and smoothie bowl,” and “toast.” This dining option caters to anyone with choices like “build your own bowl,” where you can create exactly what you want. You can also get a standard smoothie or a little juice shot to wake you up and start your day off in a healthy way.

Considering the fact that I have been more times than I can count since the opening, I have gathered my favorite go to dishes.

1. BLT with Avocado Toast—This toast is created with a house-made avocado spread, warm bacon, organic tomatoes, basil and a fried egg on top if you want it. It comes with two open-faced pieces of bread and a perfect ratio of ingredients on top. I would suggest if you are really hungry to order a smoothie with this toast to fill you up completely! I have had this toast twice, once on white bread, and the other on whole grain. Both tasted great, but the white bread was a bit larger so that portion was more filling. The other avocado toast option is the “Avo Vegan” which is also very good, but is more snack-sized than the other.

2. “Build Any Bowl”—You can build your own bowl if you have particular ingredients you want in your grain or salad bowl! I built my own bowl with a base of lettuce, and added avocados, egg slices, nuts and squash. I was super hungry and couldn’t even finish the whole meal, so the portions are very good. Along with the “build your own bowl,” the “arugula and beet salad” is another one of my favorites. It has a base of organic arugula with add-ons of spinach, roasted organic beets, goat cheese, pistachios and a roasted carrot vinaigrette dressing. I always add on avocado to almost any salad I eat, and it works really well with the arugula and beet salad.

3. Sunset Smoothie—This smoothie was one of the best smoothies I have ever had. It is made from organic coconut milk, pineapples, bananas, organic mangos and lime. Although this smoothie is my personal favorite, many people who aren’t huge mango fans haven’t absolutely loved it! So if mango isn’t for you, make sure to look at all the other smoothie options and discover your favorite!

I’m thrilled Village Juice Co. was introduced to campus and I hope everyone stops by McEwen to try it!
