TopShop X Halpern: Why You Need This Collaboration
Have you heard of Michael Halpern? If the answer is no, you will not forget his name after reading this.
Michael Halpern, is a New York-born, London-based emerging designer. In December of 2017, the British emerging talent gong for womenswear was awarded to Halpern. Not only did Halpern win big that evening with the award, but also Adwoa Aboah, a Vogue cover star crowned model of the year, was dressed in a glittering jumpsuit designed by Halpern. Given a majority of the power industry heads were in attendance of this prestigious event, it’s easy to say that Halpern is top of the ‘hot’ list for the fashion world right now.
In February 2017, Halpern released his collection at London Fashion week. A few short months later, the designer declared himself as TopShop’s latest collaborator. Again, only months later, Halpern’s collection of ‘disco-ready party wear’ for TopShop dropped early November.
This line dropped with impeccable timing of preparing for the holiday season. Mix of sequins, velvet, prints, and clashing color pieces are just a few embellishments of his collection.
"Our capsule embodies the disco spirit and signature feminine silhouettes he is renowned for; we can’t wait to bring the world of Halpern to Topshop with styles that will no doubt kick-start the partywear season for our customers,” Anthony Cuthbertson, Global Design Director of Topshop Topman said.
The inspiration of the collection came from the glamour of the 1970s and the influential women in resistance. "I want the whole world to feel as glam as possible, and this type of collaboration is a fantastic way to accomplish that," Michael Halpern said. Glam is exactly what this collection is. Currently highlighted on the front page of TopShop’s website, Harlem’s collection hopes to reach new customers who want to experiment with the illusion of sequins and vibrant colors.
