The Benefits of Drinking Celery Juice

One of our favorite health, fitness and life inspirations is the Instagram queen @kalemekate. Lately on her Instagram she’s been expressing her love and devotion to drinking celery juice. So, of course, we sat with @kalemekate creator Kate Ulveling to learn the health benefits of making this green concoction a part of our daily lives! Keep reading to find out why we are so thrilled to try it.

Making celery juice:

Making your own juice is the number one, best way to know exactly what’s going into your body. This can help you avoid unwanted sugars, carbs, etc. that have been added during the production process. Thanks to Kate, we have the perfect recipe for making quick and easy celery juice!


Ingredients:

  • 1 large unit of celery

  • A standard juicer

(Yep, that’s it! Pretty easy, huh?)

To make:

  1. Take your fresh celery bushel and break it into separate stalks

  2. Cut the bottom inch off of each stalk

  3. Rinse the celery thoroughly in the sink to remove any dirt or grime

  4. Put the celery in the juicer all at once

  5. BOOM - you have 1 full cup of fresh celery juice


How often should you drink celery juice?

Kate explains that she tries to drink this magical mix every morning, approximately one hour before breakfast.  


“It is a lot of work to clean the juicer so you need to make sure you have enough time to implement it into your daily routine. The juice can stay up to 72 hours in the fridge so I will usually juice 3-4 mason jars at a time. Drink one fresh from the juicer and put the other containers in the fridge to drink the next few mornings! Plus this way I only have to clean the juicer every few days.”


This is a great way to save time, but if you want to retain the maximum amount nutrients drink the juice straight away. Also, remember that Kate drinks it before breakfast. Although this juice rocks, it won’t replace the other calories and nutrients you should be intaking each morning (so don’t try to substitute it for real breakfast)! Instead, use it as an additional supplement for extra benefits!


What are the advantages you have seen from drinking celery juice?

As it turns out, juicing celery intensifies the positive effects of consuming celery. Who knew? Kate proves that drinking celery juice is her ideal way to power her day!


“It really aids digestion, bloating, bowel movements, etc. It just gets everything moving and working in the morning. Also, I have noticed a glow to my complexion, more energy, less sugar cravings and even less constipation!”


Well, we can’t deny that these benefits are pretty appealing. So...can we go buy celery right now?


You have made the benefits seem pretty fantastic. Would you suggest drinking celery juice to your friends?

“I literally recommend celery juice to anyone and everyone - I always joke that ‘it makes me a better person’ and ‘has changed my life.’ But it’s true! I feel like women especially have a bunch of stomach issues such as bloating or IBS related symptoms and celery juice is proven to help reduce some of these problems.”


Sometimes stomach issues or even bloating can be super upsetting. It’s a day ruiner, no doubt. So if something as simple as celery juice can make us happier people, we might as well try it!
