Lucy White—Bringing Light to Rooms at Elon and Beyond
Senior Lucy White brings an artistic entrepreneur spirit to Elon’s campus. She began seriously painting two years ago and has since started her own company, LucyWhiteStudio. Lucy’s art is unique and eye-catching, consisting of a vastness of colors, textures, and interpretations.
“I like a mix of abstract and realism,” said White, a combination students and graduates have jumped on to give their dorms or apartments an added pop.
White began selling her paintings at some of her sorority’s events and from there, it all just took off.
“I remember being so excited and surprised by the overflow of support and want for my paintings,” she said. “It was an amazing feeling.”
White is known for her artwork of fierce animals, capturing skylines, and intriguing abstracts.
White has an unsurpassable gift of making a thing or idea come to life on the canvas. “I’ve thought about making painting my career and recently have been talking to full time artists to see the kind of lifestyle it is!”
From student dorm décor, to after college apartments and families re-decorating their homes, White’s clients, and potential customers, continue to grow. As a Communication Design major, White can see herself taking many different paths for a career, but says painting has become a significant passion and life interest that she hopes to continue and advance in for years to come.
For inspiration, White turns to other artists.
“Every time I need new ideas and motivations to paint, I look to new artwork and artists that I follow on Instagram to jumpstart an idea in my head,” said White, “usually I get stuck on something and it keeps me wrapped up for a while.”
One of her ideas that she got “stuck on” was her collection of animals. From elephants, to giraffes, lions, and more, her paintings become so real and joyful with the combinations of texture and color. Lucy White Studio continues to evolve, amaze, and bring light to dorms and homes—in Elon and beyond.
White’s artwork will be featured at an upcoming Phi Mu philanthropy event on Wednesday October 3rd from 7-9 at Lakeside Plaza. You can also check out her artwork @lucywhitestudio on Instagram.
