We’ve Got You Covered on Your Next Binge Watch

A few years ago, my two best friends and I were looking for something to watch. We stumbled on “The Bold Type”. Not thinking much of it, we turned on the pilot episode and were immediately hooked. It became our go-to show, and we binged the first season in just a few days.

The show centers around three best friends, Jane, Sutton and Kat, who work at Scarlet, a women’s magazine in New York City. At the start of the show, Jane is a newly-promoted writer, Kat is the social media director, and Sutton is an assistant. Another major character in the show is Scarlet’s editor-in-chief, Jacqueline Carlyle, who is loosely based off of Joanna Coles, Cosmopolitan’s previous editor-in-chief.

All of the characters in the show are complex and well-developed, and there’s something to fall in love with in each of them. Jane, Kat, and Sutton are all quirky and unique and deal with a wide range of issues that many people in our generation can relate to. They navigate challenges with relationships, friendships, and career obstacles. The episodes also touch on issues such as sexuality, politics, and race.

The main message of the show is that it’s okay to not know what you’re doing with your life, and it’s okay to be bold and ask for what you want. It’s a message that a lot of us need to be reminded of frequently, and getting that kind of inspiration while lying in bed binge watching a show is honestly amazing.

So if you’re looking for a new show, I highly recommend “The Bold Type”. There are three seasons out that can be found on Hulu or Freeform, and the fourth season is being filmed now!
