Green is Totally Savage

Rihanna has taken the world by storm ever since she dropped “Pon de Replay.” This iconic feminist legend is not only a Barbadian singer and businesswoman, but now she can add fashion designer to her long list of talents. Dabbling in both luxury design and lingerie collections, Rihanna always proves to be our fashion icon.

How could we EVER forget the giant heart-shaped fur coat or her MET Gala looks? When she announced she was creating a fashion brand that highlights inclusivity, all of us at The Edge were speechless. Her lingerie line, Savage x Fenty, is nothing short of dreamy. 


On September 10th, Rihanna held the second annual Savage x Fenty show during New York Fashion Week. Set in the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, Rihanna’s show was the most highly-anticipated of the week.

RiRi’s Fenty is a multifaceted conglomerate that attempts to elevate fashion to the next level. Improving the concept of fashion shows includes having musical performances, extreme dancing, and a reimagined view of what it means to be “sexy” within the industry.

With artists and performers such as Gigi Hadid, A$AP Ferg, Halsey, and Migos walking the runway, it was impossible for Fenty’s show to not be a hit. This lingerie brand is also putting forth a strong depiction of what it means to be a woman after the #MeToo era.

RiRi sought to reinvent the concept of a fashion show in a way that would translate to millions of people worldwide, so there was no designated target audience. As total inclusion and equality are the central focus of everything she does, the designer wants every individual to have the strength to be the best version of themselves while in her lingerie. To help further this message, the models are varied in terms of race, body shape, gender, and physical appearance. 


Rihanna’s fashion show and newest Savage x Fenty collection make us feel empowered, provocative, and sexy, like no other brand could. After all, when you feel confident about yourself and what you’re wearing, you glow on the outside like no other.

While watching Amazon Prime’s televised adaptation of the show, we couldn’t help but notice all of the green within the collection. Rihanna introduced a playful touch of emerald and neon green in almost all of the looks the models wore. And if RiRi is urging us to try out fall 2019’s trendiest “it”  colors, we have to!
