First Semester Highlights

With the first semester rapidly coming to an end, let’s take a moment to reflect on some highlights from the past few months.

Fall Convocation certainly did not disappoint this year, with former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, taking the stage on Sept. 27 at Schar Center. Her address opened this year’s speaker series, following the theme of “The Quest for Truth,” which focuses on freedom of expression.

This semester, we also celebrated the Dance department and Campus Recreation and Wellness, with the new Needham Pilates Studio. Located on one of the racquetball courts in Koury Center, the studio should be fully operational next semester.

Elon was also recognized this semester as a top-100 National University, ranked number two for excellence in teaching. This is the first time Elon is ranked as a National University in the annual U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” guide, trailing Princeton University, which took the number one spot. Additionally, Elon ranked number one in the nation for study abroad.

We also can look forward to T-Pain performing at homecoming on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Schar Center. T-Pain will headline the 2019 Homecoming Concert and thousands are expected to turn up for the event.

Current senior Julia Daigle is excited to see T-Pain and celebrate homecoming with returning friends.

“I can’t wait to see all the seniors who are coming back and I think T-Pain will put on a great show,” Daigle says.

Make sure you are in attendance, so you don’t miss out!
