The Genius Way Vans Made Breast Cancer Awareness a Fashion Statement

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As it winds down to a close, one popular brand has spent this month creating awareness in the best way they know how.

VansⓇ created a line of shoes, shirts, hoodies, and hats covered in motivational phrases and of course… boobs.

From slip ons to slides, there’s something for everyone to wear while showing their support for the importance of breast cancer awareness. The line features illustrations of breasts in all different shapes, sizes, and colors, reminding people of the fact that breast cancer affects all types of people.

This line was made in collaboration with CoppaFeel, a foundation started by a woman who was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer at the age of 23.  She had no idea that this was even possible for someone as young as herself. This woman is Kristin Hallenga, who along with her twin sister Maren, has made it her mission to give everyone their best shot at surviving breast cancer.

CoppaFeel and VansⓇ have partnered to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer because early detection is one of the best ways to improve survival.

You can check out the VansⓇ breast cancer products here, where you’ll also find their Boob Check 101 section. They are making it their mission to remind women that everyone is at risk, and everyone should be checking themselves. For Kristin, if she had known a little more about the odds of receiving her diagnosis, things could have been different. (You can also watch a video on the same page to hear Kristin’s story.)

VansⓇ is donating $200,000 of their profits from this BCA line to Kristin’s CoppaFeel foundation.

Even though October is coming to a close, awareness for breast cancer is always important. About 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. That statistic includes women in their 50s and women in their 20s.

To learn about the signs, visit https://coppafeel.org/your-boobs/.  Right now, the only known cure for breast cancer is prevention and early detection, so do your part and coppa feel.
