Your Next Girls Trip: Asheville

If you're planning a fun girls trip in the near future and don't know where to go, consider heading to the quirky and unique town of Asheville, NC. Surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains, Asheville is located in Western North Carolina.

Asheville is full of outdoor activities, good food and lots of entertainment. You really cannot go wrong when taking a quick trip to Asheville. That being said, this article shares some insight on the top things to do, places to eat at, and things to see during your trip to Asheville.

It is only fitting that Asheville has some of the coolest coffee shops around. Trade and Lore is a great place to hit up if you plan on sitting for hours to get work done or spend time on a rainy day.

The next best coffee spot to try is High Five Coffee Shop. “It is probably the best coffee shop I have been to.” as according to sophomore, Georgi Roll. While you are visiting you should give the “medicine ball” a try. It’s a nice pick-me-up snack on a full day of exploring!

Now for food. Asheville has some of the best food in North Carolina so it is hard to pick a few locations but White Duck Taco Shop and Tupelo Honey Cafe come to mind when I think of what to eat in Asheville.

White Duck Taco has some of the best tacos in Asheville, plus it is in such a unique and fun location. It's the best place to grab a yummy bite to eat and then get your next instagram post in front of the Good Vibes sign that is right next to the shop.

Tupelo Honey is probably the best food you can find in Asheville. However it is a little more on the pricey side, but worth every dollar. If you decide to make a visit to Tupelo Honey for brunch you have to try out the sweet potato pancakes.

According to Elon sophomore Sydney Donaldson, “Tupelo Honey is so worth the wait and every bite was delicious.”

Now Asheville is known for being tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains, so you cannot take a trip to Asheville and not go to the mountains! Roll said one of her favorite things to do is, “just take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, you wont regret it.”

One of the most stunning views you can get on the Parkway is the Craggy Pinnacle stop. With 360 degree views, it is the best place to be at sunset. A bonus is the hike only takes about 15 minutes and it is super easy!

Lastly, you should consider driving to DuPont National Forest for a great day of hiking. About a 45 minute drive from Asheville, this is where some of the Hunger Games was filmed. The Bridal Veil Falls hike is one of the best hikes and if the weather is nice, it is so fun to play in the waterfall.

No matter what you decide to do, Asheville has a ton to offer and it should definitely be at the top of your ‘places to visit’ list! Grab some friends and rent a fun AirBnb for one of your favorite weekends ever.
