Incorporating Affirmations Into Your Daily Routine

In a culture that glorifies social media and a polished social media presence, our self-confidence and self-love can be put on the back burner as we attempt to maintain a “perfect look” for our Insta feed. We’re here to encourage you to break those pressures from society and help you recognize and channel your own unique badassery. Affirmations are an easy and effective way to boost your self-confidence while having a lasting impact on your self-love. Getting into a daily routine of reminding yourself of your capabilities and unique qualities is incredibly beneficial in boosting your overall confidence and positive attitude in life. Here are some tips and recommendations on how to best use affirmations and incorporate them into your daily routine.

  1. Speak in the present: Use statements like “I am,” “I can,” or “Today.” This helps convince your brain that the statement is true right now in the moment. Try starting by looking in the mirror and repeating “I am beautiful,” “I can accomplish anything I set my mind to,” and “Today will be a good day.”

  2. Speak with confidence: Even if you don’t entirely believe the statements that you are repeating, that’s okay! Part of the reason why affirmations help at increasing self confidence is because when you repeat statements with confidence, even if it’s faked, your brain is being trained to believe what you say.

  3. Leave Post-it Notes for yourself: In addition to vocal affirmations, leave little notes for yourself around your living space like “You are beautiful,” “You are smart,” “You are driven,” and “You are happy.” Glancing down at these notes when you’re having a tough day can help in turning your mood around.

  4. Try turning your negative thoughts into positive ones: If you see a part of yourself that you don’t like and can’t seem to let go of those negative thoughts, try to turn it into a positive thought. For example, if you tell yourself your legs aren’t small enough, repeat an affirmation like “My legs are strong, capable, and beautiful. I am lucky to have legs that carry me from place to place.” Don’t allow yourself to be overtaken with negative thoughts when there is beauty in every aspect of you!

Repeating affirmations and reminding yourself of your positive qualities has been proven to increase productivity and even decrease stress! Let go of those negative thoughts that hold you back from happiness and greatness. You are a beautiful force in this world, don’t cheat yourself of that!
