School Spirit Surges as Elon Ranks in National Top 100 Colleges
In case you missed it, Elon was ranked #2 in the nation for best undergraduate teaching by U.S. News & World Report on September 9th – big deal, we know.
To celebrate, our school invited students and faculty alike to toast to the school’s success, complete with champagne (or sparkling cider for students), cake and assorted maroon and gold candies. For having only a matter of hours between the announcement and the celebration, the event was extravagant to say the least.
At the reception, President Connie Ledoux Book gave a speech highlighting Elon’s #84 ranking in the Top 100 Universities, as well as its #1 rank in study abroad and learning communities, #2 for service learning and first-year experiences, and #51 in top private universities, among many other rankings.
This is the first time Elon has been ranked in the national top 100, so #84 is a huge accomplishment for the university.
As Elon continues to grow, it’s important to take a moment to remember our school’s roots and where we came from. Elon attributes #2 ranking in teaching to the 1993 launch of the Experiential Learning Requirement and the outstanding research conducted by professors.
In an interview conducted by Elon University, President Book expressed her praise for Elon.
“We are especially proud that U.S. News & World Report and higher education leaders across the country have recognized Elon for quality teaching and mentorship and highlighted the excellence of Elon’s academic programs that prepare students to thrive and succeed,” Book said.
Book’s pride in the university was evident as she compared Elon’s teaching ranking to the universities above and below it, Princeton and Brown respectively.
Overall, we can all share in the pride from U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of Elon and get excited to see how the school will continue to grow in the coming years. Long live Elon!
