Will Travel for Coffee

Let’s be real here. Sometimes you just need to get out of town for a weekend to sit down and catch up on life. So, here are some of our favorite coffee shops in North Carolina that are worth traveling to for a weekend full of work─or just good coffee.

A Special Blend, Greensboro, NC.

What’s better than making the world a better place through small, daily actions? We’re pretty sure the answer is nothing. And, if you want to support small businesses and the disabled community, giving your business to A Special Blend in Greensboro, North Carolina, is the perfect way to do it. The mission of this coffee shop is to support the community through a cup of coffee, or, as they like to put it: “to improve the lives of adults in our community with special needs through employment.” The employees are all people with disabilities and A Special Blend gives them the opportunity to learn and work while serving the community.

Trade and Lore, Asheville, NC.

Tucked in a sweet back corner of downtown Asheville is Trade and Lore Coffee. With some of the best sweet treats and teas, Trade and Lord is a wonderful spot to sit on a rainy Asheville day. Its cozy interior is wonderfully decorated with twinkly lights and brick walls. Downtown Asheville is also a wonderful place to explore, so when you need a break from all the work, just take a walk around the block and you will be able to experience so much of Asheville’s unique culture.

42 & Lawrence, Raleigh, NC.

If you are looking for a super sleek and aesthetically pleasing coffee shop to sit down and grind on some work, 42 & Lawrence is the right spot for you. According to them, 42 & Lawrence is an “upbeat espresso bar dedicated to serving the community of Raleigh” with  “refined yet quirky coffee and tea beverages.” Raleigh is a city full of trendy, sophisticated coffee shops, so you really can’t go wrong. But this is the one that will have you Instagram-ing your elaborately-swirled drink and cute outfit.

Luna Caffè, Wilmington, NC.

Located in the Arts and Antique District of Wilmington, North Carolina, Luna Caffè is a precious coffee shop owned and operated by two UNC Wilmington graduates. It’s a great stop if you happen to be heading to the beach for the weekend and need a place to get some work done─or some morning fuel before a long day at the beach.

Carolina Coffee Shop, Chapel Hill, NC.

If you want to be a UNC student for a day, head over to Carolina Coffee Shop in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Located right in the middle of the busy-ness of Franklin Street, this precious coffee shop flaunts a rustic interior and immaculate European vibes. It’s a short drive from Elon and offers wonderful eats and drinks.

The Dripolator, Black Mountain, NC.

One of our most favorite coffee shops in the world just so happens to be in Black Mountain, North Carolina. The Dripolator, or more commonly known as The Drip, is a cozy stop right in downtown Black Mountain. If you go, you have to get an Iced Killer Bee. We’re not huge coffee snobs, but we’re pretty sure this is the most popular caffeinated drink around. Pastries, smoothies and a plethora of espresso drinks are also available for order.

With so much down time this year, venturing out to one of these coffee shops is a great idea, especially if you need to get some work done. So, bring a reusable cup, treat yourself to a nice drink, and head out to a new coffee shop for some much needed work and coffee time.
