I Got a Dip Manicure for the First Time and I'm Obsessed

For the past few years, I’ve sworn by gel manicures everytime I get my nails done. Gel polish lasts a lot longer than regular polish, as it’s more difficult to chip. Also, as someone who suffers from constantly picking at and biting their nails, the thickness of gel polish as well as the amount of time it lasts always made it worth the extra money.

Then all my friends started raving about dip manicures. Dip manicures, as opposed to gel, don’t use UV rays to keep your polish perfect for weeks. Instead, your nails get dipped into colored acrylic and then are sealed with a top coat, and still dry within minutes.

Apparently, dip manicures last even longer than your typical gel manicure. My technician said that while gel typically lasts around two weeks, dip tends to last nearly a month. I decided I had to try it out. On top of trying the dip powder, I also opted to add some tips to the end of my nails. As I mentioned before, my nails are painfully short and I am always picking at them. While the tips could potentially weaken my nails, they will at least allow them to grow longer than normal.

Honestly, I loved the dip manicure process. It didn’t even take longer than a gel  manicure! I also love that it feels more natural than gel, as it is slightly thinner, but still a lot more durable, than gel. Being able to avoid the UV rays was another benefit. While it has only been a few days since my manicure, they look as great as the day I got them. Plus, I’m loving the extra bit of length.
