Outfits for A Weekend in Asheville

It’s fun to get away for a weekend, but it’s sometimes hard to know what to pack when you’ve never been there before. Asheville is the best weekend getaway and the city offers so many different activities from hiking to shopping, to going to breweries and museums. If you’re planning a weekend getaway this time of year, its best to be prepared because it can definitely be chilly. My friends and I just went to Asheville last weekend and I think we did a pretty good job piecing together outfits that were cute and functional!

Day 1: Our first day in Asheville was pretty chilly! It was around 60 degrees most of the day but the sun made it feel pretty warm. Layering is key for days like this, so I paired a jacket with a cropped white tee and my go-to denim. My friend wore a flannel and jeans. We both wore sneakers since we knew we’d be walking around a lot!

Night 1: The first night was a lot colder than what we’re used to at Elon! In hindsight, I would’ve worn a bigger jacket, so if you’re going to Asheville soon, plan accordingly for cold nights! We also waited outside for a long time at a restaurant which was tough in the cold weather, but my outfit was fine for walking around. I wore my leather jacket over a black slip dress and decided to wear this with over-the-knee boots for a little extra warmth.

Morning Hike: For a morning hike, we all decided to layer up! I wore a matching sports bra/leggings set with a cropped hoodie over it, and sneakers of course! Again, it was a little colder than I thought it would be, so I would’ve packed a slightly heavier jacket.

Day 2: I decided to dress slightly warmer on day 2 because I was pretty chilly in the morning! I paired my favorite jeans with a basic tank top and an oversized blazer I thrifted. I also wore my snakeskin purse and sunnies for some fun accessories. I also wore white sneakers because we did a lot of walking around and sightseeing. I was perfectly comfortable in my outfit all day!

Night 2: For the second night, I wanted to wear jeans to be a little warmer since it was so chilly the night before. I paired a graphic tee with my leather jacket (I wore the leather jacket both nights so I didn’t have to pack too much!) I decided to wear white block heels with this outfit so it didn’t seem too wintery.

It can be so hard to pack for somewhere you haven’t been before, but my biggest piece of advice is to overprepare! I wish I had packed a bit more warmer clothes because even though I checked the weather beforehand, it still seemed so much colder than the temperature said. Another piece of advice- plan out what you’re packing with your friends so you can all share clothes and avoid overpacking!
