Give Your Eyes a break: 3 Screen-Free Activities

Between online classes, our TikTok obsession and Netflix binges, we are racking up more screentime now more than ever. Blue light from screens can take a huge toll on our eyes, causing eye strains and headaches. WIth a much needed Thanksgiving break on the horizon, we brainstormed (yes, on paper) five technology-free activities that will give your eyes a much needed rest.

  1. Read a copy of your favorite book or magazine.

When was the last time you read a book for enjoyment? For us, it’s been a while. Reading has been one of our favorite quarantine activities. We’ve been loving Too Fat, Too Slutty, Too Loud: The Rise of the Unruly Woman by Buzzfeed writer Anne Helen Petersen.

2. Paint-By-Number

This is the perfect activity for those who want to be creative, but need a little help in the execution. Painting has been an outlet for us - it’s easy to get lost for hours in filling out the numbers. Plus, they make for great Christmas presents!

3. Do a Puzzle

We know - puzzles were for the middle of quarantine when we couldn’t leave our houses. However, there are so many (hip? Dope? trendy?) puzzles out right now - including this 500-piece Women’s March puzzle from Anthropogie. Grab your roommates, your favorite bottle of wine if you’re 21 and you have a bona-fide girls night.

These are just some of the countless ways you can spend time screen-free. If you have your favorite hobby - let us know at @TheEdgeMag.
