An Honest Review of Drunk Elephant Skincare

Drunk Elephant, which is known for their high-end skincare, is widely publicized by influencers and bloggers alike on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The hefty price tag on each of these products made me hesitant to pull the trigger, but during the Sephora sale I scored a trial pack to test out some of their most popular products. I was so excited to receive this package in the mail and loved some of the products, but unfortunately, I was left mostly unsatisfied with the results.

The trial size pack included a mini size of the cleanser, sunscreen, vitamin c serum, night serum, moisturizer, and night cream. Drunk Elephant is a vegan and cruelty-free skincare brand, creating “powerhouse products” to make your bare skin amazing on its own. As a disclaimer, everyone’s skin is different, so even though I wasn’t happy with a few of these products doesn’t mean that they won’t change your skin, however this is just an honest review from a consumer perspective.

From best to worst, I have to start out with the F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial being the best, to the Glycolic Night Serum and the C-Firma Day Serum tied being my least favorite. Everything in between was somewhat anticlimactic, neither benefiting nor hurting my skin. For reference, I have combination skin. Let's start the review.

1. F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial - 10/10

LOVE THIS. An amazing product. I use this as my last step in my nighttime skincare routine, and have noticed a positive difference in my skin. It has a super thick consistency, leaving my skin hydrated and plump in the morning, while also reducing redness and creating an even texture. Definitely going to purchase the full size of this product.

2. Umbra Tinte - 8/10

I was happy with this product and would consider purchasing the full size. I liked how the product was tinted, giving a bit of a glow rather than a white sheen, but it left me feeling a little bit shiny which I didn’t love. I think wearing this to the beach or pool would be the best application of this product, giving you a dewy, sun-kissed complexion, rather being a base for makeup or using it alone as a tinted moisturizer.

3. Jelly Cleanser - 6/10

As a solution for oily skin and makeup removal, this product is certainly an entry-level Drunk Elephant product, with a lower price of $32, as opposed to some of their other products that are closer to $100 per bottle. With that being said, I’m not sure if I would consider the results I found being worth the $32. The cleanser left my skin feeling super dry, stripping away all of the oil and made my skin feel dehydrated. I’ve found more success with other products, even from the drugstore, so I don’t think this is worth it.

4. Lala Retro Whipped Cream Creme fouette - 4/10

As a super rich “rescue cream,” I think this product is more of a fall/winter product, when skin tends to be dryer. I liked this product after using it a few times, but I don’t think I would spend $60 on the full size. The skincare concerns that this product is supposed to help are dryness, fine lines, and wrinkles, so maybe it is best suited for a different age demographic or people that need intense moisture

5. C-Firma Day Serum - 3/10

I think this was the most disappointing product in the set, due to the excitement I felt waiting for this to arrive. As an Allure Best of Beauty winner for 2018, I wanted to be able to work this vitamin c into my morning skincare routine, but this one just wasn’t for me. It was too harsh and left my skin with breakouts every time I used it.

6. T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum - 3/10

Again, everyone's skin reacts differently to certain products, but this product did not like my skin. Every time I used it, I would wake up with breakouts. When I used this product in conjunction with the Waterfacial, I felt as if it was not helping my skin, rather making it worse.
