Everything You Need to Know About the New "Loungewear" Section
The fashion category of loungewear has seen a surge recently, especially for online retail. This new section includes choices that are comfortable yet a little bit more put together than a regular pajama. However, there is a line that must be drawn between sleepwear and loungewear.
Loungewear is a chill girl’s guide to looking great without trying. This new trend might just be the best idea ever created for most of us, because it allows you to look stylish without having to think too much. Celebrities have been caught with this new trend time and time again, running errands in matching sweatsuits, slippers, and joggers.
After seeing loungewear run hot for a few months now, we’ve chosen three loungewear trends that show how to style an effortless ensemble.
The “Oversized”
The oversized sweatshirt is the easiest way to achieve a trendy loungewear look. Artist Madison Beer and blogger Maggie MacDonald are pulling off the gray oversized crew.
Madison Beer paired her sweatshirt with a hat, Shadow Hill sweats, and AF1’s, giving off a low-effort look but still incorporating on-trend pieces.
Maggie’s look with a crewneck thrown over a hidden short is a great transition outfit from winter to spring. We love how she added the Louis Vuitton waist bag, as accessories change the game when it comes to loungewear. Adding a lot of jewelry—we’re talking chunky hoops, layered necklaces, and bracelets—can change the vibe of your outfit from relaxed to trendsetter.
The “Matching Set”
Next, the iconic matching set. Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber are loving this loungewear trend. Adding the matching element makes you look super put together without having to sacrifice comfort. To make your lounge set chic, you can add a heel, like Selena did. Hailey’s look is more geared toward everyday wear, as she added Vans sneakers and a crossbody.
The “Trendsetter”
Gigi Hadid is the perfect example of slaying the loungewear trend. Her model-off-duty looks include biker shorts, slippers, and oversized tops. She basically reinvented loungewear with this second look: white joggers, a tight white crop, and a textured jacket draped over her shoulders.
The flexibility of loungewear and the ability to make it effortless or sophisticated or anywhere in between is what makes the trend so popular. It is unconventional yet easy, fun, and perfect for everyday looks.
