What's So Great About a Silk Pillowcase?
If you haven’t heard yet, many people are making the switch from normal cotton pillowcases to silk ones. Why, you may ask? Apparently silk pillowcases have a lot of benefits that set them apart from their cotton counterparts. So this week, I took it upon myself to test them out.
I purchased the pink Slip Silk pillowcase and decided to give it a week to see if I noticed a difference! Going into my mini experiment, I was very skeptical and really didn’t believe it would change anything, but spoiler alert—it really rocked my world. Not only did this pillowcase make me feel like I was princess in my dorm, but after the first night, I noticed a difference in how my face felt when I woke up. Normally, I wake up feeling puffy and swollen, but my skin felt cool and smooth. Something about the silk material really stayed cool overnight and didn’t retain any heat, which is why I think my face felt so refreshed. So you can say goodbye to the days of flipping over your pillowcase to the cool side—silk’s got you covered!
Over the next few days I noticed a change in my hair as well. It wasn’t as dramatic as my face, but there was definitely a difference! Normally, when I wake up in the morning, my ponytail is on the other side of my head, I have tangles, and hair is everywhere. I noticed my hair was just a little more contained with the silk pillow. My ponytail stayed intact throughout the night and I only looked slightly crazy. This ended up saving me time on working a brush through my angry knots in the morning.
My final thoughts on the Slip Silk Pillowcase: It’s definitely worth the money but it’s not necessarily critical to my beauty routine. I think that if you’re willing, spend the money, and it will last you forever. They also come in a million colors, and there are so many other brands that out there that you can choose from.
Although I can only speak from my experience, Slip pillowcases claim they can help keep your face extra healthy because they help lock in the natural moisture from your skin. Some brands also reduce chemical exposure by having quality silk, and they are all hypoallergenic. Not only is this beneficial for your face, it also really helps with bed head. Some people say they help reduce split ends as well. As if they couldn't get any better, they have a lifetime guarantee and are easier on your wallet in the long run. So what do you think—is it worth making the switch to silk?
