The Mem Behind the Gem

Jewelry can often be the best part of any outfit. Not only can it completely change a look, but there's usually a story behind it too; if you compliment someone’s jewelry, don’t be surprised if they launche into a story about where they got it. Lauren and Caroline have their go-to everyday jewelry, and here they open up about the story behind their favorite pieces.

Lauren

“I wear a few statement pieces because I am one of those people that wears the same exact jewelry every single day. I prefer for my jewelry pieces to mean something to me. My two favorites pieces recently are the bracelets I got while traveling abroad as well as the ring I bought myself on Ponte Vecchio, since I studied in Florence, Italy.”

“These pieces have a lot of sentimental value because they remind me of some of the best trips of my life. They are pieces that bring back all the memories I made during my time in Amsterdam, Switzerland, Prague, and Italy.”

“The jewelry pieces I choose to wear daily makes me feel comfortable and put together. Whenever I forget to wear a piece of jewelry, I feel naked.”

Caroline

“I have a few statement pieces that I never take off (even shower and sleep with, whoops!). On my fingers, I have a basic silver heart ring from Gucci that I bought in Italy when I was abroad. I loved how it says 'Made in Italy' on the front. Also on that hand, I have a stacked ring with my dog’s name on it because I miss him so much while I am at college (and I'm a little crazy). On the other hand, I have a red garnet ring that I got in Prague while I was studying there.”

“I have one bracelet on my hand that I never take off. On my left hand is a simple bangle that my mom bought me in high school. I remember I was having a really bad day that day and when I came home from school she had that for me and some snacks. It says ‘You are my sunshine.’ Where would we be without moms?”

“I love to layer necklaces, but I have one that is always a part of the group: this dainty white gold pendant. My Mom bought me this for my 21st birthday and mailed it to me because we couldn't be together for it. You can slightly tell it is Gucci by the small ‘GG’ print etched into the gold.”
