Is Quarantine Strengthening Celebrity Couples or Breaking Them Up?
Quarantine was a struggle to say the least, locked in one space with family, friends, or even boyfriends. That being said, lockdown for couples could either be great, or the final straw ending a relationship. Staying sane is a priority and sometimes a significant other does not make it easy. One of the biggest challenges of quarantine is that it’s putting pressure on relationships in new ways–causing new couples to emerge and old couples to fall apart. And nowhere is this more evident than through the lens of celebrity couples that have started—or broken up—during this quarantine.
Celebrity gossip has been especially hot lately, following new and old couples on their journey during corona. Instagram alone is filled with photos of new relationships, like Nina Dobrev cutting Shaun White’s hair. Also circling the dark web of celebrity news are videos of Dalton Gomez on Ariana Grande’s Instagram, helping with her ‘Rain on Me’ promo video. Social media is the source of so much celebrity tea, with stories and posts exposing new couples and the drama that follows them, especially when new singles are released...
Although a ton of couples have been cozying up and growing closer these days, a few took a hit during lockdown. There has been quite some drama circling around Kimye, while another reality TV couple, Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler is all over US Weekly, talking about how they “fell out of love and grew apart.“ This particularly boring period during lockdown has highlighted celebrity drama to an extreme, turning it into a huge part of quarantine entertainment.
BREAK-UPS
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler
Cavallari and Cutler met at 23 and got engaged very quickly. The couple has been married since June 2013, and recently separated on April 21. Their relationship changed drastically when Jay retired from the NFL after 12 seasons. After his retirement, Cutler would stay home with their 3 children, as Cavallari never wanted to be a stay-at-home mother. Rumors were tossed around that Jay was cheating on Kristin with her best friend Kelly Henderson, but those rumors were denied. This split didn’t seem to end with the two being friends, but they agreed to both stay in Nashville to co-parent their children.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Quarantine seems to be getting to this celebrity couple. Rumors are spreading that Kim and Kanye want to spend lockdown apart. They never spend this much time together, as both of them are always busy leading their separate lives. Since lockdown, they are spending time at ‘opposite ends of the house’. Kim doesn’t want a divorce due to the traumatic experience she faced filing for divorce from her first husband, Chris Humphries. Only time will tell what will become of this hiccup in their relationship...
Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph
This breakup threw me for a loop. After following their relationship from Colton’s season of “The Bachelor,” I really thought these two would make it to the altar. After recent Instagram posts from both Cassie and Colton, the couple announced their split, using the typical ‘some people are just meant to be friends’ line. The pair noted that they plan on staying in each other’s lives, due to the long and public journey they endured together. :(
NEW COUPLE ALERT!
Nina Dobrev and Shaun White
Nina and Shaun have been caught social distancing together during this lockdown period. Dobrev posted on Instagram cutting Shaun’s hair in this flirty pic. The couple has seemingly been dating since March, but honestly although sparks seem to be flying with this couple, I’m still team Damon...iykyk.
Demi Lovato and Max Ehrick
Another couple that is quarantining together is Demi and her new beau Max Ehrick. This couple has been together since March as well, using lockdown as an opportunity to get closer. Ehrick is a fellow actor, familiar with the entertainment industry, just like Lovato. Demi and Max make a gorgeous couple! We’re hoping to see more from them in the future.
Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez
Ariana Grande said thank you, NEXT after her last relationship, falling into the arms of LA real estate agent, Dalton Gomez. Dating for a few months, Ariana has been keeping this relationship low profile. She had fans guessing about her mystery man recently, after their relationship debuted in Justin Bieber’s “Stuck With U” music video, where Grande avoided showing his face in the shot. We hope there are no tears left to cry with her new man.
