The world might seem hectic and unknown but this for sure is not stopping anyone at Elon from achieving great things. We celebrate those who have graduated, those who are coming, and those who are continuing a new school year.

In case you didn’t know, a few months ago, Robbie Miley was elected to become Elon’s Student Body President. Miley and many others were chosen to fill the positions of those who will represent Elon students this upcoming year.

This is a role Miley has been preparing to hold. He has held positions on Student Government Association (SGA) for two years, serving as the representative for the College of Arts and Science sophomore year and Vice President for the Class of 2021 during his junior year.

SGA definitely holds a place in his heart, as it has been an organization of students who aim to make the lives of other students better -- hosting events such as town halls and the Elon Ball to encourage students to create a better sense of community.

Now, he is proud to finally become president.

“Everyone in SGA dedicates a lot of their time for the betterment of the Elon community and I’m proud to be the president of an organization like that,” Miley said.

If you think that the pandemic will stop SGA and Miley from doing what they can to ensure that you receive the best Elon experience, think again. Even though it is uncertain what may happen for instruction in the fall, we can expect them to work extremely hard to provide students with the experience they deserve.

Before running for president, Miley had many goals he wanted to achieve on this campus. Even now, amidst everything that is going on, he still plans to go ahead and work toward them.

Some of those goals that Miley strives to achieve this year include improving civic engagement, mental health awareness, and inclusion among students on campus.

“I still plan to follow through with those original goals,” Miley told The Edge, “but I’m also going to be focusing a lot of my time and energy on ensuring that students are still able to have an amazing Elon experience on campus this fall, despite being in the middle of a pandemic.”

This upcoming fall may look different from last year, but Miley is confident every administrator at Elon is working tirelessly to ensure that we can return to campus safely. Miley, along with other SGA members, cannot wait to be able to see us in person again!
