Exploring Outside the Elon Bubble—a Fashion Story
It’s easy to get stuck on campus when you’re busy with classes, extracurriculars, and social activities, but it’s important to remember that there is a whole world outside of the Elon bubble. Elon is not far from some of North Carolina’s popular natural sights—and great social-distancing locations—like Hanging Rock State Park or South Mountains State Park, and is close to other picturesque towns like downtown Greensboro, Boone, or Graham. Just a 15 minute drive from Elon University, Graham should be your next off-campus visit. With a quaint downtown and charming shops, the town is simple to get to and full of tasty restaurants, thrift stores, and plenty of Instagrammable spots.
Graham has a variety of delicious restaurants and cute cafes open for pick-up. We recommend the Graham Soda Shop and Grill for classic diner food and a cute, retro atmosphere and Press Coffee and Crepes for a taste of the classic French crepe with bohemian-chic interiors. While we wait for the opportunity to enjoy their atmospheres in person, we can still enjoy their food to-go. Graham also has great consignment and thrift stores to peruse, full of unique and trendy items. Our personal favorite is The Muse, a non-gender specific consignment clothing store.
As the summer season comes to a close and fall quickly approaches, a shift in outfits is in order—especially when spending a day out and about in Graham. Wearing bright colors and mixing prints and patterns, seamlessly combines summer’s light attitude and fall’s edgier tones. Opting for layers and alternating long-sleeve tops with shorts is sure to be the best solution to navigating the warm-turning-cold weather. This season, it’s all about trying new things and safely exploring new places, while blending summer’s colors and fall’s edgy style.
