Street-Style inspired by Fashion Week

With the end of Milan, fashion week comes the influx of street-style photos taken of the many viewers on their way into shows. It is usually agreed that street style photography started with the late, great Bill Cunningham whose first photo was of the amazing Greta Garbo. In recent years the number of street style photographers has grown substantially, mostly due to social media which has given photographers a platform to show their photos. With this growth in content, more and more people have fallen in love with street style photography and street fashion. It allows people a source of inspiration for their own style without having to worry about labels! There are tons of fantastic street style photographers who all have different ways of shooting, below are just a few to look at when you need a little inspiration for what to wear next!

Scott Schuman - @thesartorialist

Scott Schuman is one of the most well-known street style photographers out there! He created the famous fashion blog The Sartorialist in 2005, and since then has been all over the world capturing people's personal styles. Schuman has been in the street fashion game for a long time and with that experience, he has a sort of freedom to post only what he truly is inspired by, a luxury that many newer photographers don't have. Schuman’s content is unique because he doesn’t just capture looks from people outside of fashion shows, a majority of his photographs are still of just normal, everyday people he sees on the street who capture his eye with what they are wearing. His photos are full of colors and styles and he is a must-follow for anyone who loves street fashion!

Jamel Shabazz - @jamelshabazz

Like Shuman, Jamel Shabazz has been a street fashion photographer for a long time. He was first taught how to use a camera while in the army, posted just outside Stuttgart, Germany. The men there would all carry cameras to take photos of their surroundings as it was often the first time many of them had left their home. Shabazz fell in love with photography and decided that this could be his weapon to open up the conversation surrounding Black communities throughout New York City. During the 1980s and ‘90s, he spent his time capturing people and landscapes that were rarely photographed as a means to help contribute to the political conversations that were going on at the time. Shabazzs’ beautiful photographs are not only a source of fashion inspiration but fulfill his goal to contribute to the preservation of world history and culture. Although he posts mainly photos from past decades they offer a beautiful glimpse into what has changed in street style and what styles have remained!

Tommy Ton - @tommyton

Tommy Ton first fell in love with fashion when he was thirteen after hearing Tom Ford speaking about one of his upcoming collections. Since then he has become a well-known street style photographer capturing people’s different styles all over the world. Over the years, Ton has developed a unique photographic style. Moving away from the usual way of capturing one's look - from head to toe - Ton instead focuses on incorporating interesting landscapes to add to the clothing which all comes together to make truly breathtaking photos!
