Red (Taylor’s Version) for All Your Moods
So we’ve listened to Taylor Swift’s rerelease of her Red album all the way through at least four times, and we still can’t get any of it out of our heads. At The Edge, we believe that Taylor has a song for basically any mood we’re in. Below, we’ve separated all 30 songs on Red (Taylor’s Version) into different scenarios to maximize our listening experience.
Night on the Town
Whether you’re getting ready for your 21st birthday or just happen to be going out on a Thursday night, this list of songs will have you feeling ready to run the night.
“I Bet You Think About Me:” “Oh my god, she’s insane, she wrote a song about me.” We can only imagine what’s going through Jake Gyllenhaal’s head right now, but we’d like to think Taylor hits the nail right on the head with this song.
“I Knew You Were Trouble”
“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”
“Girl At Home:” This song is filled with feminist ideas and is all about calling out guys who hit on girls when they have a girl at home. Boys are pretty stupid, and Taylor has no problem letting them know.
Sunday Mornings at Oak House
This list will fill your head with good vibes and is pretty much proven to help you get your English paper done in under an hour.
“Treacherous”
“Stay Stay Stay:” “I’d like to hang out with you for my whole life.” Taylor wrote this song to show what she thought love truly was. We’re hardcore jealous of the people who relate to this lyric.
“Come Back...Be Here”
“The Very First Night”
“Begin Again”
“Everything Has Changed:” This song is about falling in love again after being so burnt out from past loves. It gives us hope for a love that is real.
“Run”
Taking the Scenic Route
You’re on a long drive down a curvy road with the windows down, and you’re singing every one of the songs on this list at the top of your lungs.
“State of Grace:” This song provides a warning for how love can go— amazing or awful. “Love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right.” Being the first in the album, “State of Grace” provides a warning for the rest of the album.
“Message in a Bottle”
“Starlight:” Taylor wrote this song about Bobby and Ethel Kennedy, and its youthful energy makes us really want summer to come quick.
“Holy Ground”
“22:” Because Jake Gyllenhaal stood her up on her 21st birthday, Taylor Swift’s ready to take on a new year in “22.”
“Red”
Rainy Day by the Fireplace
These somber songs are the perfect addition to a day cozied up with a book by the fireplace.
“I Almost Do:” This song will remind you of when you want to pick up the phone and call them, but you don’t because you know it would hurt you all over again.
“State of Grace (Acoustic)”
“Better Man”
“Forever Winter”
“The Lucky One: ” This song is about the romanticized version of being famous com[ared to how brutal it is to be a woman in the music industry. “The Lucky One” is supposedly about Joni Mitchell, but Taylor hasn’t truly disclosed who it’s about.
“Babe”
Ugly Crying in the Shower
When it’s been the worst day ever and you just need to let it all out, these songs will be sure to make you feel something, whether it’s on your way to your least favorite class or actually in the shower.
