3 Self-Help Books to Help You Keep Your 2022 Reading Goals
Here at The Edge, many of our New Years’ resolutions include some way to better ourselves throughout 2022. While reading a book for class may not be very entertaining, we think that a mindful read on the weekends can be amazing for our mental health. And, reading a few self-help books can be a great New Years’ resolution. Here are a few book suggestions to start your year of self-help off on the right foot.
Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear
This book teaches us how the small changes that we make in our lives can deliver big results. It shows us how we can gradually improve ourselves every day by making new habits and breaking old ones. While the book gives us many ways to better ourselves, it also teaches us how to keep these habits consistent and practice them in our daily lives (Goodreads, $14).
Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell
This book will teach us how to accurately understand what our peers and strangers are thinking. As college students, this information can be super valuable while we meet a ton of people each semester. Learning to observe what others are doing and feeling will help us in both our future careers and throughout our social lives (Goodreads, $13).
You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero
We’ve all no doubt heard of this book before, but maybe this is the year we finally read it. This classic self-help book will teach us how to create a life we love by getting rid of our bad habits and learning to love the things we might not be able to change about ourselves. It uses some funny stories to get us through the book, so we can be prepared to laugh while bettering ourselves (Amazon, $9).
