Your Guide to Cuffing Season
With the holiday season upon us it is time that we remember that an even more important season is also sneaking up, the cuffing season. The cuffing season is a well understood topic to us here at The Edge, with scouting season, drafting, and tryouts behind us we are upon the best and most vicious season of the year. However, we understand that some of you readers might not be as well versed, so think of us as your guide to the Cuffing Season.
Though this might look different to some, this is what a (mock) cuffing season schedule could look like.
Scouting: August 1-31
With the school year beginning, summer ending, and life moving forward it is a time to scout out some new fresh faces. Put last year's situationships behind you and try to forget about that time you got ghosted. New season, new you mentality is needed for this step as you venture out into the world of dating.
Drafting: September 1-30
Trying to find a boyfriend or girlfriend is nothing like in the movies, most times it requires a little more effort. Strike up a conversation with that guy you alway see at the coffee shop, start snapchatting the boy you added on snap at a party last week, maybe even rekindle with an old flame (NOT a toxic Ex, I know you were thinking it), anything to get you talking to some new people and planning some dates.
Tryouts: October 1-31
Now it's show time. Will they carry your books to class? Do they pick you up a coffee before work? Will they do a matching halloween costume with you? If you have made it this far then one of the potentials you scouted out and drafted during the first two rounds took the bait and wants to go on a date with you. If you make it to halloween congratulations, and welcome to cuffing season.
The Cuffing Season: November 1-January 1
It really is the most wonderful time of the year, holiday dates, cuddling up by the fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate and a hot new babe in your life. The true “Cuffing Season” happens during the holidays, will you make it to new years? If you both can survive each other's crazy families on thanksgiving, have some festive fun, and still share a new years kiss, it's ALMOST safe to say you have sealed the deal.
Playoffs: January 2- February 13
This is it, the 6 month mark! This is when you both start to settle into the realistic idea of what a relationship together looks like. This is an important time, all the toxic traits should have come out by now, if they had a secret hometown relationship I hope you'd have found out, and if you catch yourself falling in love, well, good luck Charlie.
Championship Game: February 14th
Valentines day. Need we say more? If your lover is getting you roses, chocolate or anything that starts with D and ends with -iamonds well then you're in luck. Not only have you survived cuffing season but you came out on top with a new bae.
To all those participating in cuffing season this year, may the odds be ever in your favor.
