The New York Influencer: Eclectic Looks
Let’s be honest. Quarantine made a lot of us lazy with our daily style. No one has the time nowadays to put a lot of effort into their outfits, and everyone wants to be comfortable. HOWEVER, being comfortable doesn’t have to mean giving up on looking put together, you just have to have the right pieces in your closet!
I’ve been LOVING bright colors recently, and have noticed a trend among New York influencers who have been thinking the same thing. Having eclectic style doesn’t always have to mean you are thinking way outside the box or have five different patterns in your outfit that somehow look good together. A lot of the time, those basic comfy clothes you love to wear really bring the look together! But how do you get your closet on an New York influencer’s level? Here’s a list of some of my favorite eclectic fashion trends that you should add to your closet to get a similar look!
Jackets, But Make Them Fluffy
I’m not going to lie, I’m not too happy about the weather getting warm soon because jackets have become a staple in my closet. If you look at the outfits underneath these jackets, they’re pretty neutral and definitely nothing too special . . . but with these JACKETS!! These colorful jackets will make any outfit 10x more fun and unique, especially with the fur detailing.
Psychedelic Patterns
…Like come ONNNN this psychedelic-esque pattern has been my obsession for the past month and I had to make sure it was included in here. This pattern specifically is a great way to incorporate a lot of color into your outfit with just one piece. Similar to the jackets, you could add any of these pieces to a fairly plain outfit and it will immediately make your fit more interesting.
Two Words: Bright. Colors.
I love that bright colors are becoming popular again, and combining different these with different textures makes a really cool, unique outfit. However, do NOT, and I repeat, do NOT just combine random colors. Color blocking is definitely an art and can be difficult at first, but practice makes perfect-just whip out that color wheel!
Patterned Knitwear
Are we noticing a pattern? The goal is to have one statement piece that is really funky and bold and let that speak for the rest of your outfit, like these knit pieces. These outfits give off a picnic in Central Park vibes on a cool spring day . . . *cough* get them now before it’s too warm *cough* (but not COVID)!!
Clay Rings & Accessories
This is for those of us who would prefer to add color in a more ~lowkey~ way. Emma Chamberlain and many others hop on this trend, and I’m living for it. These chunky clay rings are a cheap way to add color to any outfit and are a great entry-level accessory to give off that eclectic vibe.
