Function of Beauty is taking haircare to the next level
For the past twenty years I have never really put much effort into my hair care. Usually I grab whatever shampoo and conditioner has the cutest packaging and smells the best. This was until a few weeks ago when I noticed my hair didn’t have that same shine and wave it once did. A large portion of that is probably from my long overdue haircut...but I also think my haircare routine definitely needed an upgrade.
It’s now been about a month since I started using Function of Beauty products, and I can honestly say, I’m impressed.
Function of Beauty was founded in 2016 by Zahir Doss. The company strives to create the best products for its customers while being clean, ethical and sustainable. They create customized products for your skin, hair and body. Whether you have curly hair that's super oily or straight hair that is always frizzy, Function of Beauty has got your back. They have everything from hair mists, to shampoos and leave-in conditioners.
The process of finding your perfect product is pretty simple. There’s one quiz for hair, one for skincare and another for body. Each quiz takes you through a series of questions to get to know your body better. No need to study, I promise they’re easy!
As for the hair quiz , you start off by building your hair profile. You can choose from a variety of hair textures and structures, but don’t worry there’s a word box.
Next you choose your five #hairgoals
Here comes the real fun stuff. You get to pick a scent. And let me tell you, they have good options.
To make it even more personal the bottle and color is also yours to design.
Last but not least you choose your product size and frequency.
Function of Beauty products are definitely on the pricey side, for just two 8oz bottles you’re looking at around $36. If that price seems a little intimidating to you, have no fear... (drumroll please) They also now sell Function of Beauty at Target. The one catch is it’s definitely not as customizable as the real thing. That doesn’t mean it's not customizable at all, they have four bases (wavy, straight, curly and coil-ly). After picking a base you can choose up to three (out of ten) #hairgoals.
When I saw it at my local Target, I knew I had to give the product. I decided to go with a wavy base and just one #hairgoal which was anti-frizz. For just over twenty dollars I was able to get a semi-customized hair product.
