Secrets of a Bottled Blonde
Maintain, repair, and revive your blonde.
Fake blondes everywhere! Is your blonde is damaged, dull, and unmanageable, but can’t seem to give up the bleach? Well, you have come to the right place.
I’ve been dying my naturally brunette hair blonde since I was about 13 years old .I remember the days of drenching my brown hair with Sun-in and believing it would make me a gorgeous light blonde. Spoiler alert: my hair was brassy and my parents grounded me. Seven years later, I like to believe I have come a long way. I’ve been nearly every shade of blonde. dirty blonde, balayage, golden blonde, and even platinum (not gonna lie, I looked like Draco Malfoy)
Here are some of the greatest tips and products for all the fake blonde queens out there.
1. Dimension is key
In keeping and maintaining blonde hair, I’ve found the most important thing in making it look natural is dimension. Dimension can be accomplished by placing more lowlights in and throughout your highlights. Not only will it give your hair a more lively appearance, it’ll look better in between colorings.
2. Purple Shampoo is your best friend`
I feel there is a misconception that purple shampoo is ONLY for those wanting cool silvery toned hair. WRONG.
I like to have both gold and neutral tones in my hair, but I found through washes, my hair became significantly more warm toned and honestly brassy.
Consistently using a purple shampoo in your hair routine can help fight brassiness in your blonde, whilst keeping your color intact.
Purple shampoo is INTENSE, especially if you’re using a highly pigmented formula so be careful using this often.
Here’s some of my favs:
3. Protect yo self & LIMIT THE HEAT.
Protect your hair. You will never regret having a leave in conditioner and a heat protectant.
If you have processed blonde hair, you’ve already experienced damage, so think twice before running your blow dryer through your hair or using an iron.
Here are some great picks:
4. Don’t be afraid to grow out your roots!
Having roots is NOT always a bad thing. Think about our lord Carrie Bradshaw, she pioneered making rooty blonde FABULOUS. Taking a little time in between your highlight appointments is GREAT for getting your hair stronger, longer, and healthier.
5. Yes, Olaplex is actually that good
Indulge in a mask or treatment once a month. I personally have been loving the iconic, Olaplex No.3 Bonding treatment. This product makes a noticeable difference in the texture and vibrancy of my hair.
