A Wellness Weekly Planner for the Quintessential Elon Student

SUNDAY

Morning :

Take a nice stroll through the Truitt Drive neighborhood. If you start at the corner of S. Oak Avenue and Truitt Drive, walk about a quarter-mile down, you will see a sidewalk that will lead you around the neighborhood pond. If you’re lucky, you'll encounter some dogs!

Afternoon :

Drive to the nearest Trader Joe’s (3721 Battleground Ave, Greensboro, N.C.) and stock up on some fresh fruit and frozen food for the week! We always love to search “#Traderjoes” on TikTok before we go to find some new faves.

Evening :

Plan, plan, plan. Whether it’s a scratch piece of paper, a planner, or a dry erase board, make a plan for the upcoming week. This will help you stay organized and not miss any Zoom meetings or classes.

MONDAY

Morning :

After a hearty breakfast at home or in a dining hall,  head over to “Burlington Nutrition” (127 W Davis St, Burlington, NC 27215). Only about ten minutes from campus and it has an amazing selection of protein shakes, energy drinks, and teas! Our favorite this year has been the immune-tea.

Afternoon :

Halfway through the day, write down three things that made you smile today and three things you want to smile about later. This quick and simple task can help you take stock of your happiness. Practicing mindfulness gratitude will help you realize how many things you smile about each day!

Evening :

One of the best feelings is having all your homework done before The Bachelor. That is when you know that you have had a successful Monday! Push yourself to finish everything due for the next day before 8:00 p.m.

TUESDAY

Morning :

Elon offers free group exercise, and we can confirm, these classes are THE BEST! Every Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. there is a HIIT class. The instructors blast music, mostly TikTok hits and even provide mats and weights for you. (Sign up on imleagues.com 24 hours before the class.)

Afternoon :

Find one new study spot on campus today. Having a little mental map of all your favorite study spots makes you more motivated to get work done. Share with us your new study nook by tagging @theedgemag.

Evening :

Using your new Trader Joe’s goods, make your roommates a family dinner. Check out #TraderJoes TikTok once again for meal inspiration.

WEDNESDAY

Morning :

Challenge yourself to walk to all your classes today; if you have a car, walking is a great way to switch up your regular routine! Walking increases your serotonin which will easily make your classes more enjoyable.

Afternoon :

Throw it back to quarantine and do a Chloe Ting workout (or any youtube fitness guru you love) at the track and a power walk (four laps =one mile). Finish it off with a quick tanning session on the mats.

Evening :

Now that you’ve made it halfway through the week and probably have a record amount of steps in today… treat yourself to a spa night! If you don’t have any face masks go to Ulta and check out their travel section for some cheap ones!

THURSDAY

Morning :

Elon’s mental health screening, courtesy of the Student Health and Wellness, is free and available 24/7. This check-up is short, online, and anonymous. Following the questionnaire, you will receive your results, recommendations, and resources for further help. This screening makes finding help easy and fast!

Afternoon :

Our other favorite Elon group exercise class is on Thursday’s at 12:30 p.m. The class starts with a high-speed calorie-burning workout and ends with deep stretching and guided meditation. This class is a great mix of everything your body is craving within just an hour.

Evening :

Try to food prep three meals for tomorrow! Meal prepping is an amazing way to save money and maximize your time. It can be a bit intimidating so that’s why we recommend meal prepping for just one day to see if you like it.

FRIDAY

Morning :

If you’re a coffee lover like us, challenge yourself to try a new coffee shop on campus or locally this morning! While you’re there, pass it on and pay for the customer behind you. Small acts of kindness like this can instantly make you feel great.

Afternoon :

Carve out some time this afternoon to get your homework done. Friday afternoons are the perfect time to get ahead of the Sunday scaries. You'll thank us on Sunday…

Evening :

You made it! It’s the weekend. A fun COVID-19 safe activity is to bake with your roommates! Linked below are some of our favorite healthy desserts…

SATURDAY

Morning :

Challenge yourself to have no screen time for at least an hour after you wake up! Checking social media when you wake up has sadly become a habit to us, but it is a terrible start to our day. Instead, make your bed, breakfast, and then check it.

Afternoon :

The perfect Saturday afternoon activity is a hike. About twenty minutes from campus is Cammack Lake and we wish we had found this hidden gem sooner! Walk around the lake and stop at the little beaches on the way to relax and hang!

Evening :

Write someone a thank you note. Handwritten notes have slowly faded out of style but are so special. Whether it is a teacher or a friend, let them know you are grateful for their presence in your life.
