Ugg Boots are Back in Style
It’s 2010, you’re walking down the hall, no—strutting rather, with a Grande Caramel Frappuccino in hand, Ke$ha’s Tik Tok blasting in your earbuds, and your Hollister jeggings are fitting just right.
It’s the first chilly day of fall and to complete your look this morning, you’ve decided to slip on your favorite pair of classic Chestnut UGG boots. The warmth, the comfort, the fit . . . this style was a classic middle school fashion staple, best paired with Victoria’s Secret Pink yoga pants or a velour Juicy Couture sweatsuit.
Now that we’ve taken a trip down that memory lane . . . it’s important that you know, we’re bringing the boots back.
UGG has come a long way since its prime back in the early 2000s. As trends evolved and hot pink furry boots fell off the radar, UGG was working behind the scenes to transform its brand. The COVID-19 pandemic set fashion towards prioritizing comfort, offering UGG the perfect platform for the brand's resurgence of cozy footwear to complete a quarantine lounging look.
Nostalgia undoubtedly has played a part in this transition, as there is comfort in bringing back styles from the good old days when fashion had a different set of rules, and our greatest inspiration was pulled from Miley Cyrus’ paparazzi shoots or Katy Perry music videos. Many early cozy trends from the '90s and early 2000s such as matching sweatsuits, cropped cardigans, and mom jeans also continue to recycle.
FASHION AND FUNCTION
As a college student, the versatility of UGGs is endless and essential for day-to-day, no-fuss fashion. Whether it’s for trekking several feet over to the nearest dining hall, having a movie night with friends, or heading to your Monday 8 a.m class, UGG footwear is a must-have for the winter season. Here are some of our favorite furry finds:
Oh Yeah Slide Sandal
Oh yeah . . . fluffy sandals for the win when transitioning into the spring season. Urban Outfitters sells a variety of fun colors, as well as wearable neutrals like this grey.
Mini II Genuine Shearling Lined Boot
The classic mini ankle boot has a sleek simple silhouette that is easy to style!
Fluff Yeah Slide
Fluff yeah! Add a pop of color and comfort to your everyday look. Consider juxtaposing a fun, fluffy slipper with baggy denim for a laid-back look.
Coquette Suede Slippers
Slippers are stylish too! Oversized sweats or an easy tee and leggings are perfect compliments to this Coquette Suede Slipper sold at Dillards.
Styling the Staple
UGG! Would you look at that! Classic UGG styles that are typically paired with leggings or sweats also look cute styled with bootcut or straight-leg jeans.
Our go-to early morning look for class on a winter day is a pair of easy flare lounge pants, and a sweater or fitted college crew neck.
