Rewriting Your Own Narrative

Our realities exist in our heads. We perceive life through the thoughts and emotions that are constantly bouncing around in our brains. It is easy to get lost in the constant noise of thinking and overthinking, especially if those thoughts are negative ones. Sometimes we all need to take a step back and ask ourselves if our thoughts are promoting our happiness or setting us up for failure.

 The mind believes what you tell it. Your brain is constantly searching for ways to validate what you are thinking. If you tell yourself that you are unmotivated or have the worst luck, then your mind is going to be actively looking for ways to prove you correct. Similarly, if you repeat to yourself that you are a powerful, dedicated, intelligent person, then you will see those qualities be prevalent in your mindset.

 

It is up to you to harness your brain’s power and become the best possible version of yourself. Your mindset embodies the ideas of how you want to see the world. There are different techniques that you can apply to your life to change your thinking and set yourself up for success. One of the best ways to take control of your mindset is through affirmations.

 

Affirmations are phrases which you repeat to yourself that are filled with positivity. They foster positive thinking and self-empowerment. It is recommended to say your affirmations twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Repeating the phrases either out loud, in your head, or on paper affects the conscious and subconscious mind so your behavior, thinking patterns, and habits will change as a result. The mental images that arise from the affirmations become engraved in the subconscious mind and therefore are more prevalent in your daily thoughts.

Choose phrases that resonate with you the most and get yourself into a routine of repeating them daily. Say them as you brush your hair, write them in your journal, chant them as you fall asleep and watch your mindset grow. You deserve every opportunity to live your absolute best life, so tell yourself that!
