Places in NYC All Gossip Girl Fans Must Visit
We have all had the dream at some point in our lives about what it would be like to live the luxurious life as a teenage socialite living on the Upper East Side. The allure of an upscale apartment residence, couture clothing, glamorous parties with penthouse views, the concrete jungle as your backyard, and of course, being at the very heart of your school’s gossip site embodies the lives of teenagers in one of our favorite shows to binge, Gossip Girl. The setting of the show takes place in various parts of the Big Apple itself– New York City. From Brooklyn, to Manhattan, to Central Park, Gossip Girl locations span across New York City, so we have compiled a list of some of the iconic places from the series to visit:
Grand Central Station
All true fans know that there is nothing more memorable than Serena van der Woodsen’s first appearance in the show at the Grand Central Terminal. In this scene, Serena mysteriously arrives back in the city after a long absence from high school and the public eye. It is also here the Grand Central Terminal where Gossip Girl makes their first blast on the show announcing the long-awaited return of Serena. Aside from this, the Grand Central Terminal is a well-known architectural landmark and home to the busiest area of transportation in the city. After you have your main character moment like Serena did, make sure to check out the terminal's restaurant and shops to get the full experience.
The Met Steps & The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Not a day of Blair Waldorf’s time in high school went by without her claiming a spot on the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. In the show, typically Blair, Serena, and the rest of their crew would sit on the Met steps before and after school every day. After you recreate your own version of Blair's “lunch on the steps” with your friends (a must for every Gossip Girl fan visiting), take a trip inside the museum itself to see some of the world-class artwork on display.
The Bethesda Terrace
In the finale of the show, everyone’s favorite couple– Chuck and Blair– hold an intimate and expedited wedding ceremony at the Bethesda Terrace. Watching that last episode of Gossip Girl, we were all on our toes as police officers slowly made their way (with much haste) toward the wedding venue to question the couple. When visiting the scene of this magical Chuck and Bair moment, make sure to check out the Bethesda Terrace fountain that marks the center of the wedding location.
Pulitzer Fountain at The Plaza
In one of our favorite episodes from the first season, Serena and Blair steal clothing from Blair’s mother’s wardrobe and head to the Pulitzer Fountain at the Plaza for an iconic and unforgettable photoshoot. Located in Manhattan’s Grand Army Plaza, the fountain is right near Central Park– both being spots anyone chasing sites of the UES should explore.
