Why Audrey Hepburn Should be Your Style Icon this Summer

Of course Audrey Hepburn is always our fashion icon, but we’re going to tell you why we’re following her style to a T this summer. In honor of the *queen’s* birthday last week, we’ve analyzed her most famous looks and translated them into the 21st century. This summer is one for the books-we’re finally vaccinated and ready to show off our looks, so let’s dress like Audrey!

Gingham

Audrey’s gingham trousers are to die for. While these can look a little dated, you can spice them up by changing the style of pant or matching a top to pants. Zara sells the cutest Gingham set that will have you ready for a summer picnic in the park in no time.

Oversized Collared Shirts

If you don’t immediately think of pairing a men’s white shirt with a turquoise sleep mask, you’re doing something wrong. Go bare legged this summer in your boyfriend’s white work shirt just like Audrey did in Breakfast at Tiffany’s (sleep mask optional!)

Midi Skirts

Maxi and mini is out, midi is in! Midi skirts, shorts, and dresses are a must this summer. Audrey styles this look the best with a classic belt sinching her defined waist.

Monochromatic Looks

In the late 80’s, Hepburn’s style changed a bit when she started wearing more classic, neutral colors. She often styled white on white or black on black for a chic, mature, monochromatic look. Whether you choose to match these neutral tones or a more fun color palette, monochrome is huge this summer.

Scarves

And finally, we all know Hepburn loved a nice headscarf. While she usually wore a silk, neutral scarf on her head, play around with colors and patterns this summer and find a scarf that fits your look. Scarves are so versatile and an absolute staple in anyone’s closet.
