Your Quintessential Summer Makeup Routine

School’s out and summer is in the air. You somehow managed to survive the craziest, most stressful, anxiety-filled school year of your life. Before you do anything else, take a minute recognize how f***king amazing you are and be proud of yourself!  Now it’s time to glam yourself up and go celebrate.

Summer is all about the natural, dewy, fresh looking makeup. This type of look requires more liquid products and less powder ones to keep your skin looking glowy and beautiful all day.

Before you apply any makeup, the most important step is to prime/moisturize your face with a product that contains SPF. This step is necessary to protect your skin from sun damage and prevent wrinkles and skin issues later in life. I like to use Cerave’s morning moisturizing lotion and mix it with a glow serum to make sure my skin is protected and dewy-looking.

If you’re looking for some extra coverage or are trying to even out your complexion, I recommend applying a tinted moisturizer or a CC cream all over your face. This way you can keep your skin looking natural but also give it that flawless look. My favorite product is Colourpop's Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Acid Tinted Moisturizer. This moisturizer is oil-free so it won’t clog your pores as you sweat under the summer sun.

It’s summer so of course we need to be looking bronzed and beautiful! Find a bronzer that matches your skin tone and then apply it generously. A great tip for summer is to apply a liquid or cream bronzer under your powder one. There are so many different types throughout Sephora and in drugstores. Apply the cream to your cheekbones and temples and then blend it out either using your fingers, beauty blender, or brush. Then, go in with your powder on top of that. My favorite bronzer is the class Hoola Matte Bronzer but if you’re not trying to break the bank, a great dupe is the Butter Bronzer by Physicians Formula. Put this on your cheekbones, the temples of your forehead, and even bring it into your eyelid crease for some extra definition.

Lastly, put on your favorite mascara to bring out your eyes and finish off your look with applying a highlighter above your cheekbones and to the tip of your nose. Start your summer the right way, using this makeup routine to be looking as amazing as you’re feeling!
