Tips for Staying Motivated This Winter
As the holiday season approaches, unfortunately so does cold weather and seasonal depression for some people. During these times it may be difficult to stay positive and keep up motivation for school or other basic tasks.
The weather causes some to lack energy, so in this article, we give you tips and tricks for staying positive and keeping yourself busy while stuck inside.
We asked some Elon students what they do during the cold season to stay motivated and positive. One student said, “When I feel my seasonal depression coming back, I like to lay in bed and find a good show to watch.” Whether it’s rewatching an old show or finding a new one, some recommended ones are: The White Lotus, The Watcher, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, American Horror Story, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, 90210 or the OC.
Another student said that they like to “Cuddle up with a good comfort book, like authors such as Colleen Hoover or Emily Henry…if you’re into a good enemy to lover novel.”
A third Elon student said that “When it gets cold [they] enjoy drawing, painting, writing or going on nice long walks through campus to explore new things.”
Some additional activities to do include: taking yourself on a date, making some tea and doing your school work, drinking hot cocoa and reading or watching a holiday movie. Make a playlist with all your feel-good songs.
