The 2022 Oscars. Are YOU ready?

Get your popcorn ready because the 94th Oscars Celebration is coming on March 27! After three long years and many dropped ratings, this year's ceremony will have a host, unlike in recent years. The no-host movement began in 2019 after past homophobic tweets resurfaced from host Kevin Hart. While this was the right decision at the time, the Oscars have been extremely different without a host. We at The Edge believe bringing this aspect back will help facilitate the humanitarian aspect that the Oscars have been missing.

This year, there were a variety of movie choices, songs, costumes, and much more released throughout 2021, which should make for a jam-packed Oscar celebration. Steven Speilberg, an infamous director, has hit a new record with 11 total nominations for best movie picture in the Oscars, and seven nominations for his hit “West Side Story” this year starring Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler. Spielberg managed to produce a great and powerful remake of the everlasting triumphant movie.

The best actor category was filled with many incredible actors this year, including recent TikTok heartthrob Andrew Garfield, in his film, “Tick, Tick…Boom!”. The other nominees include Benedict Cumberbatch, Will Smith, and Denzel Washington.

For costume design, Cruella was nominated for one of the best variety of costumes the Oscars have ever seen. The real-life Disney movie starring Emma Stone used an incredible variety of materials, patterns, and textures, perfectly capturing the personality of Cruella De Ville. With such attention to detail, no wonder it was nominated for an Oscar.

Finally, for the best original song category, James Bond’s theme song “No Time to Die,” by Billie Eilish deserves the win for the solemn, yet serious vibe the song gave off. Billie Eilish has won many other awards for her raw talent and was the youngest person to sing a James Bond theme song. This would ultimately be an incredible win for this young artist.

Make sure to grab the remote, get some popcorn and get excited for a great show!
