The Beach is Calling and Here's its Ringtone

Spring Break is finally here, and that means the beach is just as ready for you to return! With the weather starting to get warmer and warmer, and the winter months fading away, we at The Edge are ready to lay down on a towel, pack on that sunscreen, and tan the days away. The beach is one of the most relaxing environments where you can go for the social aspect, or to just be by yourself and fall into a good book. With all of these options, there is one thing that is necessary to pair with your trip, and that is an even better playlist. Sitting in the sand with a mix of upbeat and indie songs is just what you need to make everything complete. Put on your headphones and listen to ‘better at the beach’ but make sure you listen to these songs first to set the mood.

Disco Man

Artist: Remi Wolf
This upbeat but simple tune written by artist Remi Wolf gives off the exact vibe the title is displaying; a disco dream. Remi Wolf was inspired by a weekly event she attends where she met a few men dressed in disco-themed outfits and imagined their entire lives in her head. This produced “Disco Man,” describing a disco lover's life, and how once you accept unfamiliarity, you will feel free. If you play this song, we at The Edge are guaranteed you will not stop bopping back and forth until the very last second.

Say Hey (I Love You)

Artists: Michael Fanti & Spearhead, Cherine Tanya Anderson

Released in 2008, “Say Hey (I Love You)” is a classic reggae song that will immediately transport you to a tropical island with beautiful views and an everlasting dance party. With the unique instrumentals and soothing voice of Micheal Fanti, it is mandatory to jump out of your seat to shake your body to the catchy beats.

Dang! (feat. Anderson .Paak)

Artists: Mac Miller, Anderson .Paak

Rap legend Mac Miller released this great tune on his fourth album in 2016 with Anderson .Paak who just recently released Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars. This unexpected song from two American rappers features sounds of trumpets, drums, and electronic additions that cause your body to feel soothed as you sing along with Miller and .Paak. Even while tanning, “Dang!” will make you tap your hands and feet for a whole five minutes.

If you find yourself on the beach, open your phone to Spotify, and throw on this playlist with guaranteed jams to get you feeling calm, cool, and collected. As the playlist goes, life is truly better at the beach, but not without some good songs.
