I Chopped My Hair... Now What?

About a week or two ago, I chopped my once long hair. It was terrifying. I had been talking about a change for months but never had the courage to actually go out and do it. Well, I finally did and I don’t regret it. Let’s talk about the benefits of short hair and why you should change it up every once in a while. Be prepared for the curious looks, compliments and double-takes you are going to get.

There are so many reasons why you should cut your hair short. Here’s why I did:

Freedom

Cutting your hair is freedom. It stands for a new change, transformation, makeover- whatever you want to call it. It allows you to be free and try something new. It sounds silly, but cutting your hair is like a weight getting lifted off your shoulders- figuratively and literally.

Have fun with it

Go rock some new hairstyles. Now that your hair is short, you can wear the space bun look, keep it sleek and straight or add some loose waves. Do whatever you want to do. Experiment with looks and accessories; they will only inspire you! Who knows, maybe you will inspire someone else?

Confidence

A short hair look will automatically bring your confidence up. When you get a new haircut, we promise you will feel like a new person. Go be that king or queen! Show it off to family and friends or post it on social media. Also, short hair will always be a trend, so you will never be out of style.

Health Benefits

When you cut your hair, you are improving its health. It promotes healthy hair growth and stops the spread of split ends. Your hair will appear thicker and healthier from the root to the tip. The old long strands of hair you had have been through the wringer, from the constant blowouts and everyday straightening session. Now, you and your hair are rejuvenated, and you are the moment.

It’s Easy

Short hair is just easier. It’s quicker to get ready and easier to tame. Say goodbye to hours of blow-drying your hair. Your process will now be super speedy. Your new mane will be so low maintenance, you will never want to go back to long hair. Make life simpler.

If you end up cutting your hair, be sure to DM a picture to @theedgemag on Instagram! Worst comes to worst, if you don’t like it, it can always grow back. But, we promise you… you're going to love it.
