Nail polish and nail art have been popular new methods used to show off one’s personal style and identity. While his trend was originally just a hit amongst women, it's now a fashion statement that more and more men are indulging in, thanks to Harry Styles.

At this year’s Met Gala many notable attendees dawned freshly painted nails in an array of bold colors and fresh designs. Some of the men included Shawn Mendez who sported a blue nail to complement his Tommy Hilfiger suit, Gossip Girl star Evan Mock who juxtaposed his soft, light pink hair with a bold black nail, and Joe Jonas who rocked a gold nail.

Nail art is a fun and temporary way to play around with new colors and trends. Because of its genderless quality, it is more widely accessible and serves as an open invitation for self-expression and discovery. Each year, the Met Gala serves as a great source of inspiration for both the beauty and fashion industries and provides younger generations with new role models to model their lives after. This year, those who watched were treated to seeing strong, unapologetically unique men who trail-blazed and defied gender norms all while on a global platform.
