Mask Off: Uncovering the Why’s and How’s of Boob and Butt Masks
Face masks have been popular for a while now, but recently butt and boob masks have hit the market and are sparking conversation. What are they exactly and how do they work are the questions we here at The Edge immediately had after seeing the products advertised on social media.
Like face masks, boob and butt masks claim to deliver a plethora of benefits and cures to common skin abnormalities such as acne, cellulite, stretch marks, dryness and even sagginess. While slathering on a cream to aid in the appearance of these conditions would be great, it is unrealistic and not the experience most consumers have. These masks are great for increasing hydration and improving the overall texture of the skin; however, it is not a one-size-fits-all cure-all method for skin conditions that truly require the assistance of a dermatologist or esthetician.
We here at The Edge experimented with Sol De Janerio’s wildly famous Brazillian Bum Bum Cream, a product that is said to be, “visibly firming with an irresistible pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla scent” and packed full of 5-miracle ingredients. Right off the bat, the product does have an amazing smell; it‘s tropical and has a similar scent to Sun Bum products. One of the key ingredients in the cream is Guaraná, a plant from the Amazon that contains higher levels of caffeine than coffee and is believed to energize the skin making it appear glowier and smoother. The most misleading ingredient on the label is Cupuaçu Butter. This ingredient claims to have fat-abrosbeing power but is essentially just a fancier version of shea butter.
Our verdict of this product is that it smells great and hydrates the skin at every use. The areas where the cream was applied did appear slightly smoother and firmer after a five-day period; however, more time is needed to see if the cream has truly provided any lasting results. Overall this product is of high quality and something worth trying in the summertime. It has a refreshing scent and is cruelty-free, gluten-free, paraben-free, vegan friendly and naturally sourced.
