Sharks are some of the most feared creatures on the planet. In the media, they are portrayed as cold-blooded killers and snaggletoothed monsters. However, they are typically the opposite and are docile and curious about humans. In many parts of the world, sharks are overfished, and with their dwindling population, it is hard to find support for the animals because of the negativity surrounding them.

Open-water Shark Snorkel — Oahu, Hawaii

Diving With Tiger Sharks — Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas

The Bahamas are known for their large tiger shark population. This scuba diving shark tour is a fantastic way to see this species up close – and what better way to see the Bahamas than from the water! A scuba diving certification is required for this trip, but once that’s attained, it’s easy to hop on a boat from West Palm Beach Florida to Grand Bahama. Like the Oahu experience, this shark dive is limited to 10 people or less.

Scuba Diving With 50 Sharks at Once — Pacific Harbor, Fiji 

Fiji's Shark Reef Marine Reserve has eight different species of sharks including bull, tiger, sicklefin lemon, and silvertip sharks. The scuba adventure is incredible due to the sheer amount of sharks that encircle the group boat. Each diver is able to swim safely in the water while being surrounded by tons of sharks and other fish. This trip has excellent reviews and is said to be the experience of a lifetime. 

Great White Cage Dive – Simon’s Town, South Africa 

In this shark dive, people are able to watch sharks from inside a metal cage. These cages sink down into the depths allowing four or five divers to watch the underwater world in action. You can get inches away from a great white shark without ever being in any danger.
