Peloton: What's the Hype?

Since Covid, fitness has been on the rise. Whether that be lifting and cardio at the gym, or running outside, staying active is super important. There are a wide variety of workout studios, gyms and classes out there, but many people prefer to work out from home. Taking the time to drive to the gym, workout, and then drive home can quickly take up two hours or more of the day, which can be hard to fit into a busy schedule.

One of the most popular at home workout companies is Peloton. Peloton has a wide variety of online workout classes, but their biggest draw is their spin bike. You follow along with an instructor either live or an on-demand class, and can interact with other cyclists during the ride as well which heightens motivation. There is a leaderboard where riders can see where they stand compared to their competitors, which is an added push to want to work harder. Throughout the duration of the ride you can see your stats like calories burned and max output score. It saves your progress and allows you to look back at results to track your progress. Of course, we love the virtual classes, and the instructors are all amazing. They have British instructors as well as American instructors, and it’s pretty easy to find your favorites. Even though it’s online, they are really personable and get on your level making it seem like everyone is riding and working together. With such a wide variety of classes for different ability levels, with different music genres and themes there are never-ending possibilities. For a more chill workout, these also offer scenic rides where you can virtually bike through mountains or along the oceanside which are a fun option as well. It gives almost the same vibe as an in-person class with the instructor, and live classes even have other rides in the room as well- so definitely take advantage of those as well.

While the Peloton is perfect for many people, it is an investment up front, and then there are monthly payments to keep up with access to classes. For the people that don’t have the time to go to the gym, or just prefer working out at home, the Peloton bike is incredible. We have one and cannot say enough good things. Other people rave about their regular virtual workout classes as well, so you can dip your toe into those first before committing to a bike. If this sounds at all up your alley be sure to check them out, you won’t regret it!
