Five Non-Basic Halloween Costumes You Need to Do

There are two types of people on halloween: one person who has been planning their costume since the summer, and the other type of person who decides on an outfit idea a couple of weeks before. If you are the second person, you might want to keep listening. If you need a quick idea that’s not your basic witch or Little Red Riding Hood costume, here are five ideas that are unique and will trick everyone into thinking you have been planning this costume for months.

Alice From “Don’t Worry Darling”

The movie was a hit, but the outfits worn by Florence Pugh in the movie were an even bigger hit. That just gives you an even better excuse to replicate the iconic white long dress seen in the film. However, no one wants to walk around in a long dress on Halloween night, so let's make it appropriate for the occasion. This costume is by far the easiest to put together and will remind everyone that you are up to date with pop culture.

All you need for this one is a short white corset dress, a black bow to tie in your hair and pearl drop-down earrings. Alice keeps it simple in the film, so you should too.

Iconic Barbie Rollerblade Outfit

Barbie season might be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t replicate it for Halloween. Barbie is often a staple for Halloween but after the recent movie, there are so many new outfit ideas to recreate. If you want to stand out on Halloween night, it’s time to bring out everything neon and ‘90s themed. Grab some hot pink biker shorts, a replica of the same bodysuit Margot Robbie wore in the film, skater gear, a vizor and a metallic fanny pack to hold all the essentials. Purchase some rollerblades if you’re feeling extra daring, but we think we should stick with sneakers for this one.

Bejeweled Taylor Swift Outfit

If you didn’t get the opportunity to make it to the Eras Tour this summer, no worries! You can live your dream on Halloween. We are obsessed with T-Swift's outfit in her “Bejeweled” music video and would love to see people rocking it on Halloween night. And just like Taylor Swift says, once you walk into a Halloween party, you will “make the whole place shimmer.”

Poison Ivy

The truly iconic botanical babe known as Poison Ivy often gets overlooked, but we are here to give you some inspiration for this look. If you are aiming for a more wicked vibe without the witch outfit, this costume might be the way to go. Any green bodysuit would work, but we opted for a satin material, leafy-green bodysuit to make this costume even more unique. Pair a bodysuit similar to this with green stockings and fake leaves to wrap around your calves. You also cannot forget about the iconic strawberry-red wig to complete this outfit.

Siren

Did someone say aquamarine and seashells? We saved the best for last, and you will be glowing in this costume. This costume consists of everything blue, pearls and seashells. The costume is important for this one, but most importantly are the accessories and the hair. For the makeup, choose some sparkly, light blue eyeshadow and put small pearls or crystals on the corners of your eyes. To create the effect that you just emerged from the depths of the ocean, mimic wet hair waves by crinkling your hair with a three-barrel wave curler, then spray with any wave spray of your choice. Once that’s done, place pearls on strips of your hair. And, walla, you will be the star of the show — making it seem you had this idea for months.
