Slow Flow Yoga
Tuesday 8 a.m., Wednesday 6:45 p.m.
Having taken the 8 a.m. option of this class, we certainly recommend opting for the evening class. Slow Flow Yoga is such a relaxing mental and physical reset that you may want to just crawl right back into bed afterward.
If you want to sweat it out and have that rewarding soreness the next day, skip out on this one and try something like HIIT or Pilates. But craving a mid-week de-stress session? There couldn’t be a class more perfect.
PIYO (Pilates + Yoga)
Tuesday 5:45 p.m.
A personal favorite, combining two of our favorite things — pilates and yoga. But don’t worry – this pilates style doesn’t use the intimidating Reformer machines (but if you do want to learn how to use them, Studio Pilates is offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.)
PIYO incorporates light dumbbells — similar to barre — and focuses on flowing between yoga and low-impact pilates movements, all from the comfort of the yoga mat.
This class works it all — arms, legs, core, and even your mind with a meditative cool down at the end of class.
Barre
Tuesday 4:30 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m.
This invigorating class has the basis in its name — barre. With all the moves based off the ballet barre, incorporating a light three to five-pound weights, each move targets specific muscles at a low impact and low intensity.
If you’re craving a strengthening workout without the severity of excessive cardio, this class will do just that.
Dance, Rhythm, and Groove:
Thursday 5:30 p.m.
We know what you’re thinking. I can’t dance. We’ll be the first to say it doesn’t matter!
Grab your friends, drop your dignity, and dance your heart out for an hour in this low-pressure, cardio blast of a class. Whether you’ve danced your entire life or maybe consider yourself to have two left feet, anyone can dance.
What better way to get in your cardio? You won’t need to struggle through a strenuous run ever again when you can dance for an hour to 2010’s pop instead.
Power Yoga
Sunday 6 p.m.
We’re all about Sunday resets around here and this Power Yoga class couldn’t be more perfectly scheduled for letting go of all the Sunday Scaries.
With a similar structure and poses to Slow Flow Yoga, Power Yoga amps up the speed and flow throughout the class. The “breath to movement” keeps a focused synchronization between your mind and body, making it easier for your thoughts not to wander as much as they may in a slow-paced class.
With a brief guided meditation at the end, you’ll walk out of the class revived, a little sweaty, and ready to take on the week.
While trying one of these classes for the first time may seem intimidating, remember it’s perfectly okay to go at your own pace and do what feels best for you and your body. If you try any of these classes, be sure to tag us on Instagram @theedgemag and let us know what you think!
