What's New in the Music World: “For All the Dogs”

On October 6, 2023, one of the world's greatest rappers and artists dropped his eighth album with an elite lineup of guest appearances: 21 Savage, J. Cole, SZA, PartyNextDoor and more. Drake is a powerful and influential figure within the music industry for his consistency and longevity. Releasing successful albums with insane guest appearances shows his dedication and care for his fan base. For an artist who produces new music consistently, it can be hard to come up with unique themes and musical techniques that draw his fan base in, including both past and new listeners, but Drake has outdone the music industry once again.

“For All the Dogs” consists of 23 songs ranging from two to four minutes long. Ten out of the 23 songs feature another significant artist that has either been in a Drake song before or is making their first debut. Drake is a strategic businessman. He understands the music world by being transparent and attentive toward his fan base by giving them what they want: a powerful 23-song album with exquisite artist features and consistently switching up his musical genre.

On Spotify, Drake’s most popular and most listened to songs are three out of his new album: “Slime You Out” (feat. SZA), “IDGAF” (feat. Yeat) and “First Person Shooter” (feat. J. Cole). These songs range from 35 to 80 million listeners, which is insane since this album came out no more than two weeks ago. It shows that Drake has made a significant impact on the culture of society and that his music not only sparks energy and happiness, but that his words and rhythm of the music truly mean something to his listeners.

Drake will consistently be a role model for all upcoming rappers and artists, and his legacy will live on forever. We can’t wait to see what Drake has in store next. Will he be able to top this album? Only time will tell.
