Glow on the Go
Self-tan is a scary world, one filled with many different “how-to’s” and products that can be very daunting at first glance. We at The Edge are here to help you navigate it!
Starting off, what is the big difference between tanning oil, drops, foams and gels?
sun bum’s tanning oil
Tanning oils like Sun Bum’s Tanning Oil are oils used to increase your chances of getting a natural tan from the sun. The oils are sleek and typically only have around 15 SPF in them, so remember that they are not a good substitute for sunscreen!
isle of paradise’s body self-tanning drops
Tanning drops like the Isle of Paradise’s Body Self-Tanning Drops are really good for facial tanning. These drops are good for your face because of their thin and unscented qualities. Be sure to mix these drops with a facial moisturizer to get an even, un-splotchy result!
coco & eve’s sunny honey bali bronzing foam
Tanning foams like Coco & Eve’s Sunny Honey Bali Bronzing Foam look daunting at first with their dark shades, but with a tanning mitt, you can get a no-streak, non-orange, tropical-looking tan! The key with foams is to apply even layers and to use the mitts rathern than your hands.
b.tan’s glow your own way gel
Tanning Gels like Btan’s Glow Your Own Way Gel are the best for starters. The fast-drying clear oil is easy to apply and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid. This can be tricky though, so make sure you remember where you already applied so you don’t double over one spot!
Tips & tricks for a glowy tan:
Wear a mitt!
This will help you get an even, non-splotchy tan without staining your hands.
Take your time
Rushing through your tan will only cause more stress and increase your chances of messing it up. Take a deep breath and take your time!
Shower afterward
Some tans develop better if you wait a couple hours (or even overnight).
Don't forget the small spots
Be sure to remember to get the small spots that are often forgotten like your ankles, elbows and hands!
Exfoliate before
Exfoliating beforehand is a great way to prep your skin by removing dead skin and making sure your self-tan lasts.
Self-tan is a great way to reconnect with those wonderful summer vibes in the cold of winter, but remember that you still are gorgeous with or without it. Summer is just around the corner, and, before you know it, you’ll be getting naturally tan in no time!
