Christmas Games for the Family

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and there is no better way to celebrate it than spending time with your loved ones. As Christmas approaches, there is no doubt that your family is slowly coming together to see each other and pile presents under the Christmas tree. If you need to entertain the kids while you catch up with the adults, or if you are bored and just want to do something fun in general, why not try one of the many Christmas games that we have listed below? They are fun for all ages and easy to prepare with the materials you have at home!

Reindeer ring toss

The reindeer ring toss is a lot like a regular ring toss. The only difference is that instead of throwing the rings onto a pole or bottle, you throw the rings onto a pair of reindeer antlers another person is wearing! While this game is usually performed with a thicker pair of antlers specifically designed for the game, you can also play it with any pair of antlers you can get your hands on.

Face the Gingerbread Man

Without using your hands, place a gingerbread man on your forehead and use your face to move it into your mouth. This is a minute-to-win-it game and is a lot of fun to play against other family members. The winner will get eternal bragging rights, as well as whatever prize you deem for the winner.

Rudolph Race

This is another minute-to-win-it game. All you need for this are a bowl of red 1-inch pom poms, some Vaseline and some bowls for the contestants. The objective is to transfer as many pom poms into an empty bowl before the minute ends using only the players’ noses. To do this, each player has to dip their nose into a bowl of Vaseline so the pom poms can stick. The bowls are usually a foot away from the pom poms, but the distance can be adjusted to make the game harder or easier.

Oven Mitts Challenge

Put your present-opening skills to the test with this game. All you need are a pair of oven mitts, two dice and an absurdly wrapped gift. It doesn’t matter what the gift is, but it does need to be wrapped in layers of wrapping paper.

Make the gift hard to open normally. Choose someone to kick things off and roll the dice. Pass them around until someone rolls doubles, and, once they do, the game begins. The player that successfully rolled will be trying their hardest to tear open the present with the oven mitts on, while the person on their left will be trying to roll doubles. When they do, stop what you are doing and pass the dice and the oven mitts down the line.

Family Feud

Sometimes the simplest games are the best. There’s nothing more fun than playing a competitive trivia game with your family. Divide yourselves into two teams and quiz each other on Christmas stories, characters and traditions.
