Don’t Sleep on This Information
When we think of wrinkles, we usually think about frown lines caused by the constant facial expressions we make. However, while facial animations are responsible for most of the wrinkles on our faces, there's one more significant factor.
Do you ever wake up with lines on your face from a nap or in the morning? We know you probably correlate that with deep sleep and being really comfortable in bed. Sorry to rain on your parade, but those lines on your face are actually wrinkles forming. It’s okay though, don't freak out; we're going to talk more about these wrinkles and how to prevent them.
Sleep wrinkles are developed from the distortion created when the face is pressed against any surface. Compression and stress can cause wrinkles and facial distortion when laying on the side or stomach. The skin is stretched and pulled in different directions with changes in sleep positions. The force becomes more significant when you think about all the time we spend sleeping in these certain positions.
Sleeping on your side over time can create a crease that eventually becomes permanent from sleeping in the same position every night. These wrinkles are usually a line across the center of the face or cheek. An easy and quick solution to help prevent this is changing sleeping positions every now and then. Sleeping on your side can also cause wrinkles similar to where crows eyes form — right on the edge of your eyelids.
We get it; nobody wants to switch up their comfy sleeping position now to prevent something WAY in the future. But, don’t we want to try and prevent wrinkles? Our future selves will definitely thank us in 20 years. While there is no sure solution to stop wrinkles or aging entirely, this solution may help long term.
Sleep and Glow has a pillow with two divots at each end of the pillow, and the divots help prevent your face from smashing against the pillow. The Sleep and Glow pillow retails for around $169.00, but there are a few cheaper options. The first one is Nurse Jamies’ Beauty Bear Age Delay Pillow, as well as the Deep Sleep Pillow by Cushion Lab.
Be sure to check out these pillows or try switching those sleeping positions. Your future self will be thankful!
