The Villain Era Playlist
We at The Edge are all for being in your healing era, but what comes next? Being in your healing era is great and all, but entering your villain era is top-tier. We want to clarify that it has nothing to do with being an actual villain and committing crimes. It is about self-empowerment and embracing and loving yourself. Realizing that you are more valuable than what another person made you feel and that you deserve the very best of the best. Being in your villain era is more about stopping caring about what others think and seeing yourself in a better light, while still having balance in your personal life. It’s not about being selfish; it's more about realizing your self-worth. We would like to clarify that putting yourself first is nothing villainous. Here are some of our personal favorite villain era songs.
“Kill Bill” by SZA
We love this song! It tells the story of a woman who is sad about her ex seeing someone new. Throughout the song, she is deciding whether to kill her ex and his new girlfriend as a way to seek revenge. She ends up committing the crime. She states that she’d “rather be in jail than alone.” While we don't condone violence, this song is a good way to let out that anger.
“Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” by Shakira
We LOVE Shakira, and this iconic song she made referencing her ex who cheated on her. In the song, Shakira name drops her ex and his new girlfriend. The song is giving old fashioned diss track vibes. It is a revenge track written to diss her ex and his new girlfriend. The song has become a huge hit.
“Irreplaceable” by Beyonce
A classic! In this song, Beyonce sings from the place of a woman who has been cheated on by her boyfriend. In the song, she claims back everything she gave him and kicks him out. This is a great example of being in your villain era!
“Boys a liar Pt. 2” by Ice Spice and PinkPantheress
This is a song about a man who stays in a relationship because he finds the woman attractive, not seeing her value. In the song, Pinkpantheress says she feels like he actually loves her, but he’s constantly lying about his feelings towards her.
“Plan B” by Megan Thee Stallion
In the song, Megan is saying that she’d rather face prison time than be permanently tied to a man she doesn’t want to be with, and she also emphasizes empowerment and self-love.
Enjoy your villain era to the fullest with these songs. Happy listening!
